CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Students at Coastal Carolina have a lot to celebrate. With the school year drawing to a close, CCU has announced a Starbucks will be up and running by the fall semester.
The Starbucks will be replacing the current Java City location, and is being brought in by popular demand from student surveys.
Here's the statement we received from CCU's Chief Financial Officer, Stacie Bowie:
Coastal Carolina University will be converting the current Java City location in the library to a Starbucks. It is our desire that the change over occur during the summer so the new location can be open by the time the students return in the fall. The change is in response to a student survey conducted by Aramark, our food service provider. Starbucks was the overwhelming choice by students with regard to coffee brand desired. The new location will be fully licensed and operated by Aramark (The contracted food service provider for CCU).
Starbucks will be the third national chain to open on CCU's campus within a year's time. Subway was added to the CINO Grille in fall 2012, and Einstein Bros. Bagels opened in January 2013 in Clay D. Brittain Jr. Hall. Enhancing food service is just one way CCU is responding to the needs and desires of the students and the community.
