MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Sunday brunch is a special time of the week for a lot of families, and for local families who indulge when the weekend rolls around, there's good news: a brand new list ranks a Grand Strand restaurant among the best in the U.S. to get a brunch fix.
Opentable.com released its Diners Choice Awards for Best Brunch Restaurants for 2013. It's a popular website people use to make restaurant reservations online. According to the site, it uses 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by OpenTable diners for more than 15,000 restaurants across the country to compile its list of winners.
Croissants Bistro and Bakery made the top 100, and is the only restaurant in South Carolina to make the list. This is a notable feat when you consider Charleston, famous for its cuisine and full of brunch spots, didn't make the cut.
Croissants owner Heidi Vukov says Croissants serves brunch every weekend. On average, the restaurant serves about 130 diners within the four-hour brunch period. Vukov says the Bananas Foster French Toast is the post popular item on the menu. She says she's proud of the food they put on table.
This is the second Grand Strand restaurant so far this year to make a national list. Greg Norman's in North Myrtle Beach was recently ranked at the seventh best athlete-owned restaurant in the country by DailyMeal.com.
Vukov is a big supporter of building Myrtle Beach's reputation for quality cuisine. She says making national lists, like Opentable.com's, promotes the dining experience available to visitors.
"We have more restaurants per capita than any other city in the United States, and I don't think people realize that," said Vukov.
