HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A 17-year-old that removed his ankle monitor has been arrested and booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

As a condition of his bond, 17-year-old Charles Jason Crum is mandated to wear a GPS ankle monitoring bracelet as part of his home detention. Around 5:23 p.m. on Friday, April 27 deputies with the Horry County Sheriff's Office received a tamper alert from his bracelet, which constitutes an attempt to escape.

Thanks to a tip, deputies were able to close in on Crum Tuesday morning. With the assistance of the Horry County Police Department and US Marshals Service, they surrounded the home where he was believed to be hiding.

Crum fled out the back door, and after 45 minutes of searching the surrounding areas he was taken into custody. He has been booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center where he will be charged with escape.

According to booking records, Crum had previously been charged with parole violation, two counts of resisting arrest, receiving stolen goods, disturbing schools, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, contempt of magistrate's court, moped licensing provisions violation, failure to stop for blue lights and reckless driving.
