HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The man accused of assaulting a Department of Natural Resources officer is still on the run this morning. Sergeant Nate Hutson with DNR says the manhunt in Carolina Lakes near Hwy 544 was called off in the overnight hours of Sunday, but resumed Monday.
Hutson tells WMBF News they do have a name for the man they are looking for, but are waiting to receive a warrant for his arrest before moving forward. As of late Sunday night, DNR would not release the suspect's name.
Captain Robert McCullough with the DNR said the suspect was fishing when an officer asked for his information. When the officer ran his name, the results showed that there were outstanding warrants for the suspect. Captain McCullough said the suspect fled after that.
WMBF News will continue updating this post as information becomes available.
