NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Bass Pro Shops in North Myrtle Beach is hosting a kids' outdoor skills challenge event, alongside more than 50 other locations across the nation.
The event ran this weekend, and will continue next weekend on April 27 and 28 from noon until 4:00 p.m., with the first 100 kids to fill a punch card each day receiving a free flashing wristband.
"We're excited to see kids get outside," said operations manager Brad Andrews. "A lot of what you see nowadays is video games, and that type of thing. Those are great, but we'd love to see kids get outdoors."
The event offers kids such challenges as casting pond accuracy, soft or youth archery, knot tying, a backpack competition as well as crafting.
"Whether it's fishing, hunting, archery, hiking, camping, those are the things that I grew up with and things that Bass Pro Shops would love to see kids keep doing," Andrews continued.
