MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A tornado watch is now in effect until 9:00 PM for Dillon, Florence, Marion, Darlington, Marlboro, Williamsburg, Robeson and Scotland Counties.

The National Weather Service has also issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Darlington County until 6:30 p.m.

Damaging winds will be possible near Hartsville, The Darlington Raceway, Floyd & Mont Clare until that time. These storms have a history of blowing down trees. Please let us know if you see any severe weather where you are.

The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Florence, Dillon and Marlboro counties was issued until 7:15 p.m.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Horry and Georgetown counties until 3 a.m. Saturday.

The strong cold front moving through the region this evening is accompanied by a line of showers and thunderstorms, some developing into storms could be severe with damaging winds and the risk of a tornado.

The greatest threat for severe weather will be across the inland areas from 6 to 9 pm and then in the Grand Strand from 9 pm until midnight. Cooler weather will cut down on the risk of storms after midnight, but lingering showers will continue through daybreak on Saturday.

Because the region is at risk tonight, make sure you have your NOAA weather radio programmed and ready to go. It will wake you up in the middle of the night if severe weather is rolling through your county.

Stay tuned to the Storm Team on Facebook and Twitter for the latest on the threat for severe weather.
