SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – After more than two weeks since 39-year-old Brooke Navoy was found dead in her townhouse on 15th Avenue South, new details about the incident have been released by police.

Surfside Beach Police are still investigating her death as suspicious despite the Horry County Coroners office listing her death as a homicide.

The incident report filed by police states there were two people in the home when police responded to the distress call, one who was still on the phone with a 911 dispatcher when officers arrived. That person, the report states, was visibly upset, while the other individual displayed a "lack of emotion."

The report indicates that Navoy's body was found in a hallway between two bedrooms, and blood was found inside the master bedroom.

On Tuesday of last week, an autopsy was conducted, determining the mother of two died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Currently family and friends are still being interviewed concerning Navoy's death by the Surfside Beach Police.

Police Chief Rodney Keziah said those interviews have been helpful so far. Chief Keziah added that officers are waiting on forensic evidence to come back from SLED before they can determine if there is a change in the direction of the investigation.

Neighbors who call the Ocean Pines home, where Navoy lived, admit to feeling eager about learning more from police.

"It's been a week, going on two - I'm sure something could be told to us to let us rest at ease," said David Burt, who has lived in the neighborhood for four years permanently.

Patrick Zimmerman is the President of the HOA. He said hearing something from law enforcement would help the community, adding, "The longer it goes, I think you do create some frustration and anxiousness that can be easily resolved if you communicate and share that information."

The solicitor's office has been informed of the death investigation. Navoy was laid to rest at a private service earlier in April, according to neighbors.
