MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – According to preliminary statistics released by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, seven people were fatally injured within the state's borders from Friday, April 12, at 6 p.m. to Sunday, April 14 at midnight.
However, none of those fatalities occurred on interstates, and five of the victims were riding on motorcycles.
As of April 14, 182 people have died in South Carolina for traffic-related fatalities. Twenty-four of those 182 were pedestrian, while 23 were motorcyclists and three bicyclists.
Year to date, the following fatalities have been reported in Grand Strand and Pee Dee counties:
3 – Darlington
1 – Dillon
7 – Florence
1 – Georgetown
5 – Horry
4 – Marion
1 – Marlboro
All fatalities reported by the South Carolina Highway Patrol are preliminary and based on figures tallied by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety as of midnight on April 14.
