MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Police have arrested an attempted murder suspect they've been searching for since January.

According to incident reports from Myrtle Beach Police, police responded to a reported shooting on Dennison Avenue on January 17 and found a man who claims someone shot at his car four times.

The victim recalled that the suspect was driving a white Crown Victoria and was following him on Highway 501 before they turned onto Dennison Avenue. He identified the suspect as 26-year-old Jamal Antwaun Lewis of Kingstree and explained the two of them have had problems in the past.

The report states several bullet casings were found in the roadway and bullet holes were found in the victim's car.

It turns out Jamal Lewis was also wanted for a similar incident reported in June 2012. The two victims of that crime drove to the police station to say a man in burgundy Honda Accord shot at their car shortly after they left the movie theater.

One of the bullets flattened their tire, and they pulled into the parking lot of a nearby restaurant. After changing the tire, they continued on to the police station but a white Crown Victoria met them on the highway and fired at them.

The victims then said they drive furiously to the police station to report what happened.

Luckily no one was injured during either incident.

Jamal Antwaun Lewis was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Thursday, April 11 and charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and six counts of the manufacture and distribution of crack cocaine.
