GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) - Three people are facing charges for metal theft after deputies noticed a suspicious car during a property check at a Georgetown County business.

Those deputies with the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office dropped by Stein, Inc on Highmarket Street for a property check on Wednesday, April 10 because there had been recent thefts in the area. They checked the registration for a suspicious vehicle they noticed, and that's when three people walked from behind a locked fence.

Those three suspects - 44-year-old Donald Ray Poston, Jr., 31-year-old Jeffrey Lyle Dukes and 31-year-old Jennifer Lynn Perkins of Georgetown - were separated and interviewed. Deputies then discovered they came to Stein, Inc. to steal metal, and matched the items in the vehicle to items missing from behind the locked fence.

They were each taken into custody and charged with trespassing and petit larceny. All three are being held in the Georgetown County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
