Deputies apprehend man matching burglary suspect's description

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A man matching the description of a suspect allegedly involved in a burglary in Darlington County was tased and apprehended after attempting to flee, officials said.

Early Monday afternoon, the Florence County Sheriff's Office received a request from Darlington County for use of their dog tracking team, saying they were pursuing a suspect they believe went into Florence County, according to Capt. Mike Nunn with FCSO.

Someone matching the suspect's description was seen standing outside a house on Barnwell Street off Mechanicsville Highway, Nunn said. The man ran into the house when deputies arrived, and tried to run out the back of the house. The suspect was tased as he attempted to flee, and was apprehended by deputies.

The suspect was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and is expected to be transported to the Darlington County Detention Center to be processed for charges, Nunn added. He may face charges in Florence County, as well.
