SOCASTEE, SC (WMBF) - A structure fire in Socastee on Sunday afternoon left a father burned, and his family displaced.

Investigators on scene said the fire was caused from combustible material close to a malfunctioning outlet. The homeowner, Ricky Pryor, said there were problems with an outlet close to a futon in their home.

Smoke detectors went off, warning the father and two of his children who were home at the time, of the fire.

Responders received a call at 1:25 Sunday afternoon and crews arrived on the scene in two minutes.

The original 911 call reported that one person was trapped inside of the home. It was reported that the father attempted to fight the fire, and suffered from burns that were treated on the scene.

Horry County is working with the Red Cross to help the displaced family. One bedroom reportedly has heavy damage, while the rest of the house has smoke damage.

The fire is reported to have started in the bedroom, where firefighters cut a hole in the roof to contain the fire.

Everyone was able to get out of the home.
