MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) –Atlantic hurricane season is only two months away, and the American Red Cross, Coastal South Carolina Chapter and the Myrtle Beach Chapter of NAACP are partnering to offer the public a free disaster preparedness and resiliency presentation.
The Red Cross released in a news statement the event will take place on April 8 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Canal Street Recreation Center at 971 Canal Street in Myrtle Beach.
Event attendees will learn how to plan and prepare for hurricanes. They will learn about pre and post hurricane landfall awareness and activities, hurricane shelter locations and opening procedures, emergency plan development, according to the news release. The importance of volunteers in times of disaster and other safety information will also be presented.
