DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) – Darlington County Sheriff's Office Deputy Jamie Lui was named Officer of the Year by the SC Department of Public Safety, according to a news release.
Deputy Lui received the accolade for her efforts in working with DUI arrests, DUI victim services and underage drinking programs in Darlington County.
"I am honored to receive this award on behalf of all the men and women at the Darlington County Sheriff's Office," Deputy Lui said. "Being a mother of one, and one on the way, life to me is precious. We must keep up the effort to bring down the number of alcohol-related deaths."
Deputy Lui worked under a grant position Darlington County received three years ago from the Department of Public Safety, according to the press release.
"Jamie is a great asset to this office," added Darlington County Sheriff Wayne Byrd. "We are all very proud of her accomplishment."
Currently on light duty, Deputy Lui is expecting her second child, but will return to full service in the Special Enforcement Unit for the SCSO.
