LITTLE RIVER, SC (WMBF) - When you're out on the water, most people probably don't notice the litter that can pile up. Captain Patrick Kelly owns "Captain Smiley Fishing Charters" in Little River and says the trash that collects on the water and the shore is an eyesore.
"If you go up and look in the grass, there's trash everywhere," Kelly says. "We got to get it picked up. The only way it gets picked up is if people volunteer and pick it up."
With the help of the Little River Chamber of Commerce, Kelly planned a river sweep, for the second year in a row, to get volunteers to help clean up one of our greatest natural resources. The river sweep is happening on Sunday, April 14th. Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. at Harbourgate Marina. Anyone can help; you don't have to own a boat. There will be a party after the river sweep ends at 3 p.m.
