Myrtle Waves to hold job fair

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Waves Water Park, South Carolina's largest water park, is seeking to hire about 225 seasonal employees, and hosted a job fair this afternoon.

The park, located at 3000 Tenth Avenue in Myrtle Beach, is hiring for all departments, including admissions, retrial, food and beverage, lifeguards and aquatics, maintenance, first aid, and various supervisory positions, the company stated in a news release.

Myrtle Waves Water Park is hiring 75 extra employees for the upcoming summer season.  Park spokesperson Rebecca Feagin said the park is hiring more people because business is growing.

"We saw an increase in traffic last year from the year prior and going into this year as well we'll be extending our operating hours Tuesday to Thursday during the week," Feagin said.

Corry Woods was one of dozens of people at the job fair.  Woods said he is working one job now, but it is not enough.

"Stressful, it's stressful, I'm a single dad so its very stressful," Woods said.  "I've been going to interviews and going to the unemployment office."

Woods said he only works two nights out of the month at his current job which brings in less than $100 each month.  He said he is doing everything he can to get a job.

"Some places said I was too qualified, some didn't get a chance to see me," Woods said.  "I've dropped off resumes and sent resumes to places."

Feagin said candidates like Woods could be hired within the next two weeks.

The park offers paid training and development, and the opportunity to advance into leadership positions, representatives stated.
