MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A man facing drug and alcohol charges is now being charged with property damage after a detention center officer found him punching a window.

That man, 20-year-old Nicholas Roy Metcalf, was booked into the Myrtle Beach Jail late Sunday night and charged with simple possession of marijuana, assault and battery, public intoxication, resisting arrest and purchase or possession of alcoholic liquors by a minor.

The incident report for his arrest indicates someone on a bike saw Metcalf punching a stop sign on Fourth Avenue North, and was struck by rock Metcalf allegedly threw at him when he rode by.

When police arrived on the scene, he purportedly said, "I have no right to listen to you. I can do whatever I want." His eyes were glossy, speech slurred, and he smelled of alcohol, the report states.

While in custody in the Myrtle Beach Jail, in a private cell with no other occupants, police reports say Metcalf punched a glass window until it shattered. That window is reported to cost $500 to replace.

Metcalf is now charged with malicious injury to personal property.

His bond for a handful of his charges was set at $2,290; however, bond was not granted on his assault charge. He is expected in court on Thursday, April 4.
