(CNN/ WMBF) - You might have noticed something different about your friends' Facebook profile pictures this week.

The social networking site says millions of users changed their profile image on Tuesday.

That's the same day the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in a case concerning same-sex marriages.

The Human Rights Campaign had urged people on Monday to change their Facebook profile pictures to a pink-on-red equal sign.

The change was aimed at showing support for same-sex marriage.

By Tuesday, Facebook said 2.7 million users made the change.
