MYRTLE BEACH - Baseball season is here, and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans are ready for another season as the Single-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. Last year the team made the postseason, and is bringing back nine players that suited up for them in 2012 as they return to Carolina League action.
Four former first-round draft picks that will come to the Grand Strand are outfielder Jake Skole (for his second stint with the Pelicans), catcher Kellin Deglan and right-handed pitcher Luke Jackson, which were all selected in 2010. Outfielder Zach Cone joins the squad, who was drafted in 2011.
The roster also features six players that Baseball America has listed in the top 30 prospects for Texas' entire organization. The season begins at Ticketreturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark, Thursday April 4th against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. First pitch is slated for 7:05.
