42 Horry County schools receive SCDOR awards for achievement

Local schools win awards

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Forty-two school in Horry County received Palmetto Gold and Silver Awards from the South Carolina State Department of Education for the 2012-2013 school year, as well as 13 in Florence County and 13 in Darlington County.

The schools are awarded in recognition of high levels of academic achievement and high rates of improvement. The schools receive general awards for overall performance based on both their absolute and growth ratings, and the growth index found on school report cards.
