COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Department of Corrections officials have captured an inmate who walked away from a work assignment Sunday evening.

SCDC spokesperson Clark Newsom says investigators captured 25-year-old Maurice Bailey in the area of Piney Grove Road in Columbia around 9:20 Monday morning.

Bailey, who was assigned to the Campbell Pre-Release Center on Broad River Road, did not show up for inmate count at the end of his shift at Miyo's on Bower Parkway near Harbison Blvd.

He was serving a 5-year sentence for robbery and was scheduled to be released in September.

He was arrested without incident and taken to Broad River Correctional Institution.
