NEW ORLEANS, LA (WMBF) –The infamous blackout in the
Mercedes-Benz Superdome during Super Bowl 47 was caused by a design flaw and
human error, according to utility company Entergy New Orleans.
Officials say a recently-installed relay had a design-defect
that caused it to trip in an unpredictable way, in addition to poor
communication between the manufacturer and the utility company.
Power to half of the arena cut off early in the third
quarter of the game between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers.
