MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The expanded Myrtle Beach International Airport opens on April 2, bringing several important road changes.
Beginning April 2, the old airport entrance will close permanently to passenger traffic, according to a news release from airport representatives. The road will dead end, and drivers will be forced to circle back and use the new entrance.
The new entrance, with the monument sign, is directly across the street from Whispering Pines Golf course, and is the only road travelers will use for accessing the airport. It is accessible by continuing on Harrelson Boulevard to Jetport Road, officials state.
"Customer service, and easy accessibility to the Myrtle Beach International Airport is vital to the overall visitor experience" said Michael La Pier, Director of Airports, "the old entrance has been technically closed for several months, but on April 2, 2013, the old entrance will become impassable to passengers attempting to access the terminal building or parking lots."
