MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Very cold air has settled into the Grand Strand and Pee Dee region, and will set the stage for a possible damaging freeze later in the night.
Clear skies and calm winds will allow temperatures to drop very fast, says Storm Team Meteorologist Jamie Arnold. By daybreak on Friday, mid to upper 20s will be common, even for the beaches.
Temperatures this cold are damaging to early blossoms and tender spring growth. Make sure to protect any sensitive outside plants.
Friday will see plenty of sun, but still cool with highs in the mid 50s. The weekend will see more chilly weather with temperatures stuck in the 50s, but a storm system moving off shore will provide scattered showers by late Saturday and the chance of a steady, soaking rain Saturday night and Sunday.
