HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A Conway man is facing attempted murder charges after police reports say he attempted to beat a man with a hammer in the middle of the night.
The victim in this alleged assault says he was snug in his bed on Krystal Lane in Conway in the early morning hours of Thursday, March 14 when 33-year-old Winston Boyd Leviner II broke into his home.
The victim claims Leviner was wielding a hammer and tried to hit him with it. As the victim tried to gain control of the weapon, he claims Leviner then began to use his fists.
That's when a witness ran out of the bedroom to call for help and Leviner fled the scene.
Officers that arrived to their call for distress found scratches and cuts on the victim and damage to the victim's windshield and hood.
Leviner was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Monday, March 18. He is charged with burglary, resisting arrest, attempted murder and malicious injury to animals or personal property. His bond was set at a total of $37,000.
