NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Three North Myrtle Beach employees have been honored for helping save the life of a man that collapsed in the Aquatic and Fitness Center in February.
The man was found lying on the floor of the basketball gymnasium in the North Myrtle Beach Aquatic and Fitness Center on Feb. 5 when employees were notified of the emergency.
Assistant Director Diane Bartlett, Fitness Director Patrick Flynn and Personal Trainer Nikki Hawkes are credited with saving the man's life. After calling 911, Bartlett checked to see if the man was breathing or had a pulse.
She then rolled him on to his back, opened his airway, and confirming he was not breathing, began to administer a CPR.
Patrick Flynn arrived quickly with one of the Center's Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) and a Bag Valve Mask.
The trio was honored with Employee of the Month awards at a recent City Council meeting.
