PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WMBF) – A concerned citizen's tip led to a burglary arrest early Saturday morning. Larry Dean Toombs, 51, was charged with third degree burglary by the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, according to a news release from their office.

Deputies were dispatched to Tyson Drive and Kings River Road in Pawleys Island around 1 a.m. on Saturday morning, after they received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle and trailer parked at a vacant home.

The responding deputies located a vehicle matching the description given by the caller, traveling south on Ocean Highway, and initiated a traffic stop. Investigators reached the vacant home and discovered forced entry into the garage, at which point Toombs was taken into custody without incident.

Toombs initially claimed he was lost, but then asked to speak with investigators and to cooperate. He is currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center.

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office says tips can be sent by texting text-a-tip to 274637 from a text-enabled cell phone. A text with the word "GCSOTIP" followed by a message can also be sent. The service is for crime tips only, not to report crimes-in-progress. For a crime that is in progress, dial 911.
