MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach Police are
cracking down on impaired drivers this weekend in lieu of all of the visitors
to the area.
St. Patrick's Day is not the only event bringing people to
Myrtle Beach this weekend – students on spring break, as well as those here for
the car show and cheerleading competition are making Myrtle Beach a busy place.
More activities mean more potential for drinking and driving and the Myrtle
Beach Police Department is not taking risks.
Patrol units across the state are participating in a DUI
crackdown and they are saying if a person is caught drinking and driving, they
are going to jail.
"We're really trying to pump that message out there that it's
really not safe to be out there on the roads drinking and driving," Corporal
Shannon Toole with the Myrtle Beach Police Department Traffic Division said.
