Police stopped car being driven on fire

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A Briarcliffe Acres Police Officer  stopped  a car Friday evening while it was being driven on fire, according to a Briarcliffe Acres Crime Report.

The reporting officer said he noticed a vehicle with flames showing from underneath the engine area, and signalled the driver to stop. He informed the driver the car was on fire and the driver was able to exit without any injuries.

Horry County Police assisted with traffic control and the North Myrtle Beach Fire Department arrived to extinguish the fire and provide additional traffic control.

The report states that the engine compartment and passenger compartment areas were destroyed by fire.

There were no injuries from the incident.
