Red Flag Warning issued due to low humidity, high winds Saturday

Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for most of the WMBF viewing area due to the low humidity, high winds, and relatively high temperatures expected on Saturday.

Humidity is expected to fall to 25 to 30 percent Saturday, and possibly lower in the Charleston area. Winds will be at 20 to 25 miles per hour with gusts up to 35, according to the National Weather Service, with temperatures in the mid-70s.

Careless debris burners cause more than 40 percent of the wildfires in South Carolina every year, officials state, and weather can play a big role in the spread of wildfire. Debris burning in yards should be postponed until the next rainfall.
