FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A Florence man is facing charges after police found him in a car with a female that had been shot in the back.
Officers with the Florence Police Department responded to an apartment on Third Loop Road early Friday morning after receiving a call about a possible shooting.
Police spokesman Major Carlos Raines explains the suspected shooter tried to flee the scene in a Dodge Charger, but was stopped by officers just arriving in the area. In his back seat, officers found a 22-year-old female covered in blood with a gunshot wound in her back. She was transported to a hospital by ambulance, and her current condition is unknown.
Major Raines says the shooting appears to be domestic, and both the shooter and victim lived in the apartment complex where it took place. Trails of blood in the complex led officers to believe the victim tried to run for help before the suspect forced her into the car.
The suspected shooter, 39-year-old Thomas Williams, was booked into the Florence County Detention Center at approximately 3:20 a.m. Friday. He is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
