Man accused of assaulting officer turns himself in

DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) - Darlington Police say just a few hours after releasing the photo of a wanted suspect to the public, he turned himself to face charges for assaulting a police officer.

The suspect is Brad L. Hickman - a 5'6" tall black male that weighs around 160 pounds. He was wanted for driving under suspension, a ABC violation, speeding, and assaulting a police officer.

Darlington City Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Nelson says an officer pulled over Hickman's car Thursday. But Hickman got out of the car, assaulted the officer and ran into the woods.

"The officer had to seek medical attention, however he is recovering from minor injuries," Sgt. Nelson explains.

The police department said they would like to thank the public for their help in the search for Hickman.
