HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A teen
student at Carolina Forest High School is facing serious consequences after
being accused of tainting a substitute teacher's beverage with cleaning products.
But the report from Horry County
Police indicates it may not have been entirely his idea – at least from one
side of the story.
The officers that penned that
report were called to the school around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5 when a
substitute noticed his drink didn't taste quite right, and luckily he only had
a few sips.
The 15-year-old male student
allegedly responsible for the ordeal admitted to pouring a small amount of
cleaning product in the water bottle. But he insisted that the group of
students he was with thought it would be funny and egged him on.
His peers, however, say he acted
on his own accord – a story the teen later corroborated but said he did it
because he wanted to fit in.
After police spoke with the teen
about the gravity of his actions, they released him to his parents and issued a
juvenile summons. The teacher says he was not injured.
