6 people in South Carolina arrested for unemployment fraud

COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) – Six people in South Carolina have been charged with fraudulently receiving unemployment benefits, according to an announcement by the SC Department of Employment and Workforce's Office of General Counsel.

Six individuals in Greenville, Pickens, Sumter and York counties have been arrested for receiving unemployment benefits in amounts over $10,000, to which they were not entitled, states a release from the DEW.

The six suspected offenders are:

• Sharon E. Gilmore, 41, of York County

• Janie D. Gilstrap, 55, of Greenville County

• Mario D. Gonzalez, 53, of Greenville County

• Thomasina D. Hicks, 28, of Pickens County

• Daryl T. Jefferson, 36, of Sumter County

• Thomasenia H. Shivers, 56, of York County
