Pee Dee man sentenced to 30 years in prison for stabbing

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A Pee Dee man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted of killing his daughters grandmother and setting her body on fire.

Prosecutors say Deonte Williams pleaded guilty to murder as part of a plea deal. In April 2011, Williams beat and stabbed 44-year-old Mariam Burgess to death. He then set fire to her home on Stackley Street in Florence.

Williams' mother was charged with accessory after the fact of murder.
