18 wheeler veers off I-95; expect onlooker delays

Posted: Updated:

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The West Florence Fire Department is still on the scene of a single vehicle collision on the connector road between I95 South and I20 West.

According to Captain Anthony Fox, an 18-wheeler veered off  the highway and went in to the woods.  We are told 75 gallons of diesel fuel leaked, but they have now contained that leak as of 6:30 a.m..

DHEC is now on scene assessing the spill. SCDOT and SCHP are also on scene. Tow service is still preparing to remove the truck.

There are no injuries as a result of the crash. Captain Fox says there are no lane closures  at the moment but warns drivers that first responded should be on scene for an extended period of time.

Fox says there have been two other collisions involving 18-wheelers in the same location. Both accidents happened in 2012.

Two tow trucks are on scene to help remove the 18-wheeler.
