CAROLINA FOREST, SOUTH CAROLINA (WMBF) - Carolina Forest is seeing growth: two new businesses are will soon open on 501 across from the Tanger Outlets.
Explore Asian Bistro and Grill and The Olive Garden are two new restaurants people will be able to enjoy in the area.
The owners of Explore Asian Bistro and Grill said they are finishing renovations to a building that used to be a Japanese Hibachi. Owners feel confident they will succeed. They say traffic from Coastal Carolina University and the families in the area will be drawn to the value and environment that the restaurant has to offer.
Olive Garden was unable to comment, however construction is being completed on the facilities.
John DiSabto is the spokesman for the Carolina Forest Civic Association, a group that oversees business development in the area. DiSabto said what separates Myrtle Beach from Carolina Forest is that people live in the area and businesses need to cater to family life.
DiSabto said even though many businesses have come and gone through the years; it is not a reflection on the area's growth. According DiSabto, the natural law of economics comes into play when a business opens in Carolina Forest. If the business is not meeting the needs of the area, it closes.
Carolina Forest has seen major developments around International Drive. McDonalds, a grocery store and smaller businesses have all taken advantage of the growing wealth in Carolina Forest, according to DiSabto.
The Carolina Forest Civic Association would like to see more infrastructures in Carolina Forest. The agency believes growth would occur at a more rapid rate if roads like 501 were expanded.
