LUMBERTON, NC (WMBF) – The body of a missing Lumberton man was found Monday morning downriver from the Second Street Bridge in Lumberton, a police spokesperson confirmed.

An autopsy on the body of 21-year-old Edward Oxendine, Jr., revealed no physical sings of trauma, and after a preliminary examination, the medical examiner in Raleigh has ruled his death a drowning.

A person canoeing in the Lumber River came saw the body at about 10:30 a.m. Monday and called police, who checked it out, Lumberton Police officials said.

Oxendine, Jr. was reported missing on January 19, 2013 by the Robeson County Sheriff's Office. The investigation will continue to determine the cause of the drowning.
