MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The reservation line at Springmaid Hotel in Myrtle Beach was non-stop Tuesday morning. The hotel says it's gearing up for a busy tourist season with room rates already $25 more than this time last year.
"The business forecast 60, 90, 180 days out looks absolutely fantastic!" says the marketing manager Donald Hovis.
Hovis believes this year will be a busy one, because Easter is earlier and he says snow birds want to get away.
"The winter this year was harsher than the winter of 2012 and I think people just want to escape and enjoy Myrtle Beach."
Springmaid just completed $9 million in renovations, and they are excited to show it off. The hotel has also been hiring more because tourist season is approaching and they say subsequently, from now until the end of Labor Day, you can expect hotel room rates to rise.
