GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) – One man was arrested early Monday morning at Browns Sugar Shack for drug violations during a routine patrol.
Georgetown County Sheriff's Deputies observed a large crowd at the intersection of Powell Road and Saints Delight Road, and the odor of marijuana coming from the area.
Deputies conducted a patrol by foot of the parking lot and discovered what appeared to be multiple bindles of heroin in a vehicle parked in the area. After a short period of time, officers observed 24-year-old Anthony Brent Armstead exit Browns Sugar Shack and unlock and enter the vehicle.
Armstead, of Georgetown, was taken into custody without incident after deputies found 12 heroin bindles, approximately 1.2 grams, and what appeared to be a marijuana blunt. He was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin and Simple Possession of Marijuana.
Armstead was then transported to the Georgetown County Detention Center where he is currently awaiting a bond hearing.
