MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Power has been restored to residents in the Forestbrook area after downed power lines put them in the dark Tuesday afternoon.

The outage viewer on Horry Electric's website says power is 99% restored to the 470 members that were affected by this outage on one line, and 100% restored to the 1,233 affected on another power line near the intersection of McCormick and Forestbrook Road.

Spokeswoman for Horry County Fire Rescue Leslie Yancey says the intersection of McCormick Road and Forestbrook Road has been shut down for crews to remove those fallen power lines in the road.

Those power lines fell after an accident in the intersection. It is unknown right now how that crash occurred, but the Department of Public Safety suggests you avoid the area until 7 p.m. as crews work to clear the scene.
