Report: Gun discharge strikes woman in mouth

Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A Myrtle Beach woman is recovering from a gunshot wound that reports indicate she received while smoking a synthetic marijuana.

The shooting was reported to Myrtle Beach Police around 2:19 p.m. Sunday afternoon, who met the female victim at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

She recalled sitting on the couch at a friend's home just two hours earlier, smoking a synthetic marijuana, when a bullet was discharged from the gun her male friend was "playing with," the incident report states.

That bullet struck her in the lip and left a hole in the cheek, knocking out several of her teeth. After a few minutes of chaos, the report states a witness drove her to the hospital for treatment.

The report did not indicate if the victim's friend or the witness were also smoking the synthetic drug, or if warrants are being sought to press charges.
