LORIS, SC (WMBF) - An afternoon crash in Horry County left one person dead after they overcorrected their vehicle Wednesday afternoon.
The Horry County Coroner has identified the victim as Leonard Jerry Myers of Kings Mountain, NC.
The fatal accident happened around 4:51 p.m. in Loris on Highway 9 Business between Highway 348 and Liberty Church Road.
A Ford pickup truck traveling south on SC 9 slowed down to make a turn, that's when the Toyota pickup truck, also heading south, ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and struck the Ford from behind, according to Sr. Trooper Bridget Wyatt of the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The Toyota continued off the left of the road and overturned, ejecting the victim.
Myers, the driver of the Toyota pickup truck, was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to SCHP.
