Surfside Beach man charged with gas station robbery

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A Surfside Beach man is facing charges for his alleged role in an armed robbery at a gas station on 62nd Avenue North in Myrtle Beach.

According to the incident report from Horry County Police, a black man wearing a hoodie and a bandana over his face entered the Kangaroo gas station around 2:25 a.m. on the morning on Sunday, Feb. 10 with a handgun.

After demanding money from the register and grabbing a handful of scratch off lottery tickets, the man ran in the direction of an apartment complex nearby. County and city police canvassed the area to search for him but couldn't find anyone matching the description given by witnesses.

After reviewing video from the store and collecting evidence, police identified their suspect.

Diamond Luis Brown, 22, of Surfside Beach was arrested and charged with armed robbery and attempting to defraud the SC lottery. His bond has not been set.
