Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) ¯ Theatre of the Republic in downtown Conway is preparing three special productions to take the stage in March.

The theatre is bringing back several illusionists that have made appearances in Conway over the years with the presentation of "Illusions on Main Street: Fabulous Fakes" from March 1-3. The show will be made up of male entertainers impersonating female performers from Judy Garland to Tina Turner.

"Ten Little Murders," the latest work by local playwright Kathryn Martin, is a humorous murder-mystery satire that will have its premiere run from March 8-10.

In conclusion, TOR will present "The Gentlemen Take the Stage," March 22-24, a musical variety show and bookend production to the very popular "The Ladies Take the Stage," presented at the theatre just this past January. The review consists of veterans to the theatre as well as some new faces. The men that make up the cast are Suede Anderson, Chad Bagwell, Matthew Johnston, Tim McGhee, Kelvin Perkins, Doug Smith, Kelvin Smith, Sean Patrick Smith, Michael St. Cyr, David Turner, Jody Watts, and Stephen Williams.

Friday and Saturday performances for all productions are at 8 p.m.; Sunday matinees are at 3 p.m. In addition, there will be a 3 p.m. Saturday matinee only for "Ten Little Murders."

Reserved seats are $18 and can be purchased on the Theatre of the Republic website or from the TOR box office, Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Theatre of the Republic is located at 335 Main Street in historic downtown Conway.

The theatre will resume its main stage season productions with "The Color Purple" (April 19-May 5); and "Curtain Up: A Broadway Musical Review" (June 7-23).
