Crews respond to possible drowning on Little Pee Dee

Posted: Updated:

MARION COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - First responders are en route to a possible drowning on the Little Pee Dee River in Marion County Friday evening.

Mullins Fire Chief Robert Stetson says crews are responding to the Cartwheel Landing on the Little Pee Dee River, just down river from the Highway 917 Bridge.

A Mullins Fire Rescue Boat and two people are about a mile up river, starting the search that was sparked by the discovery of an overturned boat in the water.

The witnesses who spotted the boat thought a man might be missing, and that man was not home when they went looking for him.

The Department of Natural Resources has also launched a boat to assist in the search.
