2 charged for Georgetown Co. home invasion

GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) - A home invasion in the McDonald community of Georgetown County has landed two young men behind bars.

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson says two men burst into a home on Player Street looking for a phone that was picked up from their neighbor accidentally.

When they realized their mistake, they answered the door for the phone's owner. But the men rushed in the door with a gun, forcing them against the wall and threatening them.

Police arrived and searched the area for the culprits, but didn't locate them until hours later.

Thirty-two-year-old Donnell Vereen and 32-year-old Lionel Bessellieu were taken into custody by the charged with burglary and kidnapping. Vereen is also charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
