MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF)- This week, the Horry County Sheriff's Office is on the hunt for two men accused of first degree burglary, and they say both men took guns.
WMBF went on a ride-a-along with Sheriff's Deputy John Wright to try and track down 18-year-old Maurice Stanley. According to reports, he broke into a home in the 3100 block of Old Chesterfield Road in Longs on the evening of January 23 and took two rifles and two shotguns. The report says the neighbor saw it happen. When we arrived at the address, a woman was waiting at the end of the drive who says she is Stanley's mother and that he won't listen to authority and hasn't been seen in several days. Wright gave his card to the distressed mother and hopes he will turn himself in following the discussion.
"He's a young guy and he can go on with his life and be a productive tax-paying citizen, and we don't want him to do anything else to ruin his life," says Wright.
James Todd, 21, is the other man authorities hope to find. According to the report, Todd stole a shotgun and about $100 in change after breaking into a home on Meadowlark Circle in Conway back on January 12, 2013.
With gun violence on the rise in our nation right now finding these two men is imperative to Horry County because there's no telling what could be done if those guns are sold or taken by someone the suspects run with.
