MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Myrtle Beach Marathon is this Saturday, and the route will close many streets and will likely cause traffic congestion across the city.
Before you head out Saturday morning, take a look at the road closure information below, provided by city spokesperson Mark Kruea:
"With thousands of participants in the various events, traffic will be congested, especially between 4:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect delays on Kings Highway, Ocean Boulevard, Farrow Parkway, Grissom Parkway and various cross-streets. Be patient. Plan to share the road with runners during those hours, or seek an alternate route to avoid marathon traffic completely. Give yourself extra time to get to your destination.
"US 17 (the "bypass") will not be affected by marathon
activities, so it's the primary route for north/south travel. To reach
Broadway at the Beach, use US 17 and 29th Avenue North. Below
are the road closures and congestion areas to avoid. You'll find a full
course map at http://www.mbmarathon.com/Assets/marathon+map+2013.jpg.
