Marathon brings extra business to Myrtle Beach

Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – This Saturday, Myrtle Beach Marathon runners will be running along the popular Market Common shopping spot, and business owners know what an advantage that is.

Market Common's Marketing Manager Hatton Gravely says the shopping center is already seeing an increase in traffic in its stores and restaurants ahead of the marathon this weekend.

Gravely says the vacation rentals for the suits of the Market Common are all booked, and businesses are expecting a big return in profits because of the extended weekend that includes Valentine's Day, the marathon, and President's Day on Monday.

A lot of stores are offering sales and specials to get even more people to shop – the Market Common even has a special section on its website dedicated to those offers - find it here.

Tune in to WMBF News this evening for Lauren Weppler's full report on the economic impact of this weekend's marathon.
